what we do

BAR Assist

Changes to the regulations governing the circumstances in which barristers can give advice now make it possible for both corporate and private clients to instruct barristers directly without first having to instruct a solicitor.

Barristers perform three main roles:

1. They give opinions and advice on complex matters of law and the prospects of winning disputes that may end up in court.

2. They provide a specialist advocacy service when
clients require representation in courts or tribunals.

3. They draft the legal documents which are used in court, as well as other more general commercial documents and contracts.

We help our clients to use barristers directly by:

  • Understanding their issue and advising on the barristers' chambers best suited for the work and the seniority of barrister required.

  • Obtaining a fee estimate and timeline for providing
    the advice

  • Preparing papers for the client meeting with the barrister

  • Summarising the issues and preparing the brief for consideration at the meeting

  • Attending the meeting and providing typed up notes

  • Preparing and helping to issue court papers

  • Preparing a disclosure list and bundle of documents

  • Preparing witness statements

  • Preparing trial bundles

  • Attending and recording court hearings
